Discover the Benefits of Mineral Cosmetics
By: Anne Harvester

Many of you remember the old game “animal, vegetable or mineral”. When it comes to cosmetics the answer is yes, yes and yes. One would be surprised at the range of things which can make their way into your makeup. In terms of makeup the correct answer for you is mineral cosmetics. Transitioning to a mineral makeup kit provides multiple benefits.
Mineral cosmetics serve to both protect and beautify your skin. These salicylate free cosmetics also exclude other commonly found irritants and allergens like bismuth oxychloride, carmines, and superfluous dyes. Powder mineral make up also does not contain talc. Your mineral makeup kit will transition you to a wholesome, naturally beautiful face.
The powder mineral makeup in your mineral makeup kit employs loose minerals which extend the amount of time your face looks freshly done. Mineral cosmetics last longer than comparable chemically composed competitors. From mineral makeup eyeshadow to lip gloss there is no sacrifice of health to achieve beauty.
Mineral cosmetics often contain zinc oxide which provides sun protection factor (SPF) of over 25. Harsh effects from overexposure to ultraviolet rays cannot be overcome by even the best cover ups. Most important to verify is that your mineral cosmetics contain zinc oxide only in its standard form. Many products contain micronized zinc oxide which may entail adverse health effects.
There is both good wet and powder mineral makeup. The same level of variety and depth of selection are available while making safe, healthy choices. Many times, what goes on your face ends up on the skin of the loved ones around you. Transitioning to organic cosmetics could prove to be an important step in identifying elusive triggers for your child’s allergies.
In terms of convenience, natural cosmetics are no longer hard to find. It used to be many would have to drive miles to a small specialty store to secure the organic brand of their preference. The wonders of technology have no solved that problem. A diverse array of safe products are now available with only a few clicks of the mouse.
Having a mineral make up kit also has larger implications and makes a greater general statement. Many women sacrifice environmental concerns while in pursuit of beauty. Others realize the two concerns are not mutually exclusive. Organically based cosmetics do not add to the steady stream of chemicals making their way into our wilderness and water supply. The reasons are evident why mineral cosmetics are the clear choice. Safe for both you and your family, they allow for both a brilliant look as well as a small contribution to cleaning up the planet.

12 Foods to Eat Organic

12 Foods to Eat Organic
To be and stay healthy, you must eat healthy foods. An important part of a food being healthy is for the food to be certified organic. To be organic, foods must meet certain standards set by their accredited organic certification organization. Among the standards required for organic foods, is that the foods have to be grown or raised without use of toxic pesticides. The following is a list of some of the most important foods that should be organic if you are going to consume them. They are organized in no particular order.
1. Milk: Non-organically raised cows are stuffed with antibiotics and growth hormones. Make sure your milk and other dairy products are from organically-fed cows that haven’t been pumped with extra antibiotics. If you are buying and drinking goat milk or goat products, know that scientists have now genetically mutated a goat to spin silk in her milk.
2. Rice: Domestic rice contains mega-doses of pesticides. Buy organic rice where you can find it and store it in an airtight container.
3. Potatoes: The non organic variety is laden with pesticides or has been genetically-modified. Genetically modified potatoes impair the immune system and can shrink the brain, liver and heart.
4. Baby Food: The younger a person, the most susceptible they are to pesticides. There are many organic baby food brands now.
5. Green Beans: At least 60 different pesticides are used on green beans. Even beans used in baby food have been found to be contaminated.
6. Strawberries: Eat organic ones while they are in season from local organic farms or buy frozen organic strawberries from your local whole foods market.
7. Green and Red Bell Peppers: These excellent sources of Vitamin C are contaminated with pesticides. Buy these organic. Or, you can buy organic seeds and grow your own.
8. Corn: Corn doesn’t really have that many pesticide residues. But 75 to 90 percent of all domestic corn has been genetically-modified, and the average American eats 11 pounds of it. Also, most cooking oils include corn oil, and so many foods are sweetened with corn syrup. Eat local organic corn in season and freeze some for later.
9. Bananas: This tropical favorite isn’t ripe for very long and has a very long distance to travel to market. These two factors combined, leads to a lot of heavy chemical dousing during the process.
10. Cherries: These rich pieces of fruit are heavily doused in poison. Make sure that the cherries you buy are organic and clean for the best and sweetest taste out there.
11. Cucumbers: By the time the cucumbers in your salad have traveled from the farm to the plate, they are intoxicated with pesticides. Buy organic cucumbers to avoid eating pesticide-filled cucumbers.
12. Celery: Very much laced with pesticides that have been sprayed onto them from their first conception, cucumbers are definitely one vegetable that you should buy organic.
All of these foods that have been discussed should be bought organic. Eating organic foods will ensure that your body will be the healthiest it can be.

What is The Best Make-up for Sensitive Skin?

What is The Best Make-up for Sensitive Skin?
When it comes to sensitive skin, finding the right makeup can be a complicated task. There are so many choices between traditional, hypoallergenic, organic, and mineral make -ups. So what’s the best choice for those of us with sensitive skin? At the end of the day, there is no better choice for us then <a rel=”nofollow” onclick=”javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackPageview', '/outgoing/article_exit_link']);” href=”http://afterglowcosmetics.com”>natural cosmetics</a>. Let’s take a closer look at why this is.
Most women start off using the make up of our mothers, traditional makeup, and quickly find it to be quite harsh on the skin. The reason that traditional make-ups are so harsh is because they have many unnatural chemicals in them. Unfortunately, many women get into a vicious cycle where they continue to use the traditional make-up to cover the blemishes that it causes. This is until they find a better alternative, of course.
If you are allergic to traditional make up, it only makes since to seek out hypoallergenic makeup. The reason is in the name, or so it would seem. The term hypoallergenic does not mean that these cosmetic products won’t cause an allergic reaction. It only means that it is unlikely to do so. Many cosmetic manufacturers only take out perfumes and other highly allergic chemicals from these products. So make sure that read the label a little closer next time on those hypoallergenic products.
When we start to consider organic and mineral cosmetics, we are getting warmer. Generally speaking, organic makeup refers to cosmetics made of natural ingredients such as plants. But beware, only “certified organic” cosmetics are pesticide free. Organic cosmetics also may or may not have minerals in them. On the other hand, there is mineral makeup. Mineral makeup is made up of minerals that work well for people with sensitive skin. The minerals from this product often helps heal and revitalize skin.
So why not choose a makeup that heals your sensitive skin? Between sun damage, environmental pollutants, stress, and all of the other reason your skin get become damaged, <a rel=”nofollow” onclick=”javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackPageview', '/outgoing/article_exit_link']);” href=”http://afterglowcosmetics.com”>mineral makeup</a> is the to help your skin be more naturally beautiful than ever.

Breastfeeding – take your time

Breastfeeding – take your time
Having spent the last 9 months focused on labour and delivery, you’ve now got your new little bundle of joy – and guess what? He wants feeding and he will be looking at you!
If this is your first child, then neither you or your baby have done this before, so it’s a new skill that you have to learn together, and this will take time and practice.
So when that time comes and breastfeeding becomes a reality, rather than something that is going to happen at some time in the future, here are a few things to bear in mind.
If you think of a large marble, then this is roughly the size of your new baby’s stomach. With this in mind, your baby will need to eat at least every 2-3 hours, If you have concerns about producing enough milk to keep up with this demand, don’t! What your baby takes, your body will make – you will have enough milk!
Yes, breastfeeding may hurt and cause irritated and sore nipples in the first few days, but it should not hurt for the whole feeding or for more than a few days. If pain persists, don’t “tough it out” – seek some help! There is lots of help out there to support you while breastfeeding – take advantage of it. Around 95% of the time, the solution to sore nipples comes by simply improving the position of your baby’s mouth on the breast while feeding (more technically this is known as ‘latching on’).
Feel like your breasts are as big as Mount Everest with veins as clear as large rivers? Not to worry, they will settle down after the first few days, as you and your baby learn how to breastfeed together and settle into your own rhythm.
Your breasts should settle down in size and weight (and they won’t behave like that leaky tap in the bathroom any more) once you are in a regular breastfeeding routine. In the meantime, enjoy your cleavage!
Let the dust bunnies and dirty dishes become your friends for the first few weeks. The world will not stop if you have a messy house and this is the time to concentrate on your baby. Get to know each other and learn how to read your baby cues, sing silly songs – whatever you like. Never hesitate to ask for help or accept it when offered, you don’t have to or need to do everything yourself.
If you are hungry, then eat. If you are tired, then sleep. If you want to stay in your pyjamas all day, do so. If you’re too tired for visitors, put them off but invite them back when things are calmer. In these first few weeks, you need to look after yourself as well as your baby.
By about 6 weeks, you and your baby will have learned the breastfeeding routine. Life will begin to feel more familiar again, and your breasts will look how you used to remember them. Having a family should now have become the norm.

Eco Friendly Tips to living Green

Eco Friendly Tips to living Green
September 17th, 2009 by Richard N Williams
Being eco friendly or living in an environmentally friendly way is often preached to us from the media, government, friends and colleagues. But eco friendly living can often be confusing with mixed messages coming from different quarters.
For instance some people claim bio-diesel is a green fuel as it produces les CO2 than conventional fuels. Others argue it takes up valuable arable land and that the fuel is essentially foodstuffs that could go to feeding people. So it becomes difficult to know who to believe.
And as being green is all about thinking about how individually we effect the environment – often what works for one person doesn’t necessarily work, or can be practical, to another.
However, there are a few things that many people agree can go a long way to helping the environment and most people can fit into their lives:=
Recycling. Recycling is perhaps the most important thing that we can do that directly help the environment. When you consider how much rubbish each of us throw away each year it soon becomes clear that reducing that amount will make an individual difference. Recycling bins go a long way to make things easier too.
Buy organic products where no harmful chemicals/pesticides have been used. Whilst they may be more expensive but anything we can do to help prevent pollution of our countryside and seas will benefit generations to come. Its not just about organic food either, organic clothing and other organic products are available.
Try and use natural alternatives. What was good for grandma is probably good for the planet too. Old fashioned methods such as drying clothes on an clothes airer will not only cut down on your carbon footprint but also reduce your energy bills.
Try different energy methods. Hybrid cars are one way of using new technology but replace some of the battery powered stuff with say solar powered gadgets. Even consider using solar powered chargers to recharge your laptop or ipod. Every little bit helps.
Organic advantages of mineral makeup

Organic advantages of mineral makeup
After more than thrity years of existence, mineral cosmetics didn’t prove its vitality until now. When big brands didn’t prove their 100% efficiency and added chemicals are found in the ingredients that make the women’s mind to adopt mineral cosmetics.
Mineral makeup products are running in a parallel line along with the changing technology and trend by removing unnecessary additions of waxes, dyes, parabens, talcs, fragrances, fillers, oils and other chemicals. These added chemicals have severe bad effects to human health such as talc can cause cancer of the lungs and ovaries. Parabens can reduce testosterone, male reproductive functions and breast cancer.
Many mineral makeup companies are strictly following the rule of adding only natural preservatives. Most of these cosmetic product companies are adding natural sunscreen, vitamin A, C and E for enhancing skin’s healthy glow. Vitamin E is an effective anti-oxidant and protects skin from ultra-violet, drugs and pollution. Vitamin C enhances immune system.
Mineral cosmetics are waterproof products so it can last long and couldn’t remove easily. The biggest advantage of these products is that it helps skin to breath and the zinc oxide potentiality in powders helps to prevent blemishes.
The mineral benefits, which are noticed and experienced by most of the women, are:
Gracious to Skin – If your skin is already have blemishes or it is very delicate skin, then you can use mineral blush, liquid foundations and cc cream and bb cream. Because all natural and organic cosmetics are gentler in use and pH balanced which helps the skin to stay clear and unaffected.
Perfect Coverage – Mineral foundation helps to hide your blemishes and balance your skin tone. Use high quality based mineral makeup and applies liquid cosmetics with the foundation brush to give a flawless finish to your skin.
Potential Ingredients – Organic ingredients can provide good health properties, which help the skin to nourish and to be protected. Mineral products are now emphasizing on natural ingredients to reduce the risk of any cancer or any other health hazardous.
Vegan friendly products – Many cosmetic products claim their products to be natural contain animals but those may contain pore-clogging animal lipids, which is unsuitable for most of the vegans and animal lovers. But pure mineral cosmetics don’t use animal for its utilization and these products ensures you 100% natural and animal free makeup.
Animal free minerals – 100% natural cosmetics don’t need to verify its purity by tasting it on animals. So mineral makeup users shouldn’t be guilty and can apply the products without any hesitations.
Online shopping – The best thing you can do with mineral products, which you can shop online by choosing a product through its organic ingredients. You can choose the product by reading remarks by its users and even can discuss this topic in chart before ordering. Or else if you have any doubt regarding its ingredients’ functionalities then you can browse online to find the accurate work of the particular ingredients.

Warning! – Chemicals In Cosmetics May Kill You!
“If I’d known I was going to live so long, I’d have taken better care of myself.” ~Leon Eldred
I Think Y
ou Would Like to Know!
I am sorry about the headline! Unfortunately it’s the truth, and I think you would like to know. I want my articles to be positive so I will turn it around and just say:
“Be happy, stay healthy – throw away your chemical stuffed cosmetics! Start using top organic skin care products, make your own skin care products, or just be natural”.
The last thing we want is to cover our skin with deadly chemicals. OK! That’s’ my opinion.
A few days ago I received an e-mail with the headline “Are Your Cosmetics Killing You?” The e-mail came from Ian Robinson, Managing Editor in Natural Health Dossier “Health Watch”. You will find a link to the entire article under references. Natural Health Dossier – an independent health research team committed to publishing the latest medical discoveries and scientific research (NHD “Health Watch) is dedicated to delivering the most trusted and comprehensive health guidance in the world.
Your daily beauty products could well damage your kidneys, affect your nervous system, and even cause cancer.
I read the mail from Ian Robinson with great interest as I just wrote another article about chemicals in cosmetics recently. I am not at all surprised. The fact is, a lot of people have no idea what dangers they expose themselves to by using non-organic cosmetics. Your daily beauty products could well damage your kidneys, affect your nervous system, and even cause cancer. We think that products that are legal to promote and sell would be safe to use, or they would have been forbidden to sell. You need to rethink!
Read the entire article, see link under references, and I guarantee that you will think twice next time you are planning to apply “chemicals” to your skin.
Poor or no control of products.
From the article: “Currently, the FDA can’t regulate beauty products until they are already on sale to the public. That means these products and ingredients don’t have to go through any safety tests.
Cosmetics companies can also combine ingredients without pre-market tests. The FDA has banned certain compounds in beauty products. For example, it banned mercury in cosmetics in 1990. But it rarely tests to see if manufactures respect that ban. And that means no one is checking to see if consumers remain at risk or not.
In the case of mercury, a series of recent high-profile tests and investigations show that products continue to expose Americans to dangerous levels even now.”
Keep These Three Tips In Mind!
To avoid chemicals in cosmetics, Health Watch ask us to keep these three tips in mind: Be wary of claims that say products are:
* “Dermatologist-tested,”
* “Natural,” or
* “Organic.”
Look for yourself and read the ingredient label instead. In my last article “The Pure Facts in This Article Will Make You Love Organic Top Skin Care Products!” you will find a long list of chemicals in cosmetics that you should avoid. You may read it by going here: Chemicals in cosmetics.
Be very serious about warning labels. They’re your best clue to toxic ingredients. If you buy products online I recommend that you read the “about us” section as that will give you valuable information that may help you determine whether you want to buy the products or not.

Benefits of Using Good Cosmetic Packaging
May 18, 2011
Benefits of Using Good Cosmetic Packaging
Today cosmetic packaging has attained great significance due to the great attention shown by today’s shoppers not only to the quality of a product but also to its packaging. They now judge a product’s quality or the manufacturer’s credibility by its packaging. If it does not meet their standards or expectations, then the product can be out rightly rejected. Therefore, cosmetic packaging has become an integral part of marketing strategies as it can make or break product demand. Since today the cosmetic industry is overrun with competitors, good and effective cosmetic packaging is essential for cosmetic manufacturers to make their mark in the beauty industry.
Today effective cosmetic packaging is not only a successful marketing strategy to win shoppers’ attention but also essential in several other respects. Let us see the benefits of using good and effective cosmetic packaging.
Primarily good packaging, as mentioned above, helps cosmetic manufacturers in creating an identity of their own which is essential when taking into account today’s cosmetic arena. Today’s cosmetics market is overflowing with a diverse selection of skin care and hair care products that cater to different hair and skin types. Hence, cosmetic manufacturers have no other choice but to come up with different strategies to enhance their market value and ROI, and good packaging is the sure shot way of achieving that. When time pressured consumers shop for cosmetic products, they do not have time to test each product. When making random selections, cosmetic packaging is what helps them make a decision. Therefore, it is highly essential to come up with unique packaging designs, colors, and shapes to make a lasting impression in the minds of consumers.
Effective packaging helps in preserving and protecting the content from being contaminated, especially when it comes to organic cosmetics. Today more and more people are leading organic lifestyles, and therefore great care must be taken when packaging organic cosmetic products. With Great cosmetic packaging manufacturers are important since without them they wouldn’t have been able to enjoy good quality products in attractive and well-made packages, such as lotion pumps, treatment pumps, and airless pumps.

Buy your winter warmers organically

Buy your winter warmers organically
The winter months of 2009 were some of the coldest on record in the UK with temperatures often reaching records lows in various places and news stories of record snow fall also in full effect. These bitter temperatures often caused great discomfort for the masses be it waiting for the bus to work, standing on the football terraces or even just walking the dog.
With those kinds of conditions it pays to spend the extra bit of money on high quality outdoor clothing or at least having the layers to wrap up to keep warm. Aside from your hat and gloves, top quality hoodies and jumpers are always useful to keep you warm through the colder months.
In recent years fair trade has risen in popularity and become a well known and respected campaign, aiming to give producers of raw materials a fair price where they have previously been exploited and have struggled to make a living, on the money they earned from multi-national organisations. The campaign has helped prevent this kind of exploitation in many areas of the world, but the only way this can expand further is through further demand for fair trade products. Common examples of fair trade products include coffee beans, cocoa beans, fruit, rice and cotton amongst other products. An increased impact could be gained by the consumer choosing Fair trade products over the usual products they purchase.
When buying your winter outdoor clothing there is often an option to buy your clothes ethically, there are now various outlets on the high streets of most major towns and cities that produce their products with ethically sourced materials. These high street stores produce their products through ethically sourced materials such as cotton and have proven it’s possible to pay that little bit extra for the materials while producing quality goods and still being an economically viable business. Buying your winter warmers from these businesses not only help you to keep extra warm in the winter but also help the wider community by giving the producer at the other end of the spectrum a greater quality of life.
If you are not sure on the high street retailers operating as a fair trade enterprise a quick bit of research online through the Fair trade website will help you identify the key fair trade organisations.
Look to buy Organic Clothing when you stock up on winter clothes, Mens Hoodies are a must have to keep you warm in winter. Buying fair trade can make a difference worldwide, buy today and help the world around you.

Bhu:sattva: Inspired By Rafflesia
May 16, 2011

Bhu:sattva: Inspired By Rafflesia
A fairly popular Indian brand of organic clothing, Bhu:sattva is for all the socially and environmentally conscious eco-fashionistas. This Gujarat based organic clothing brand has justifiably catapulted to popularity with its authentic line of pure organic clothing that uses fabrics made of natural fibers along with natural and herbal dyes without a trace of any chemicals. After showcasing it’s collection for three seasons at the Lakme Fashion Week, Bhu:sattva is back for the fourth season with its immaculate line of organic designer outfits inspired by the very exotic Rafflesia.
It is the striking Rafflesia that caught DigVijay Singh’s fantasy and ended up being his muse for this season’s collection. The designer reportedly said that this inspiration was an effort to conserve charm of nature’s gifts. A rare species of flower found in Southeast Asia, especially the Malay Peninsula, Indonesia and the Phillipines, Rafflesia is believed to be the largest single flower in the world. A fully bloomed Rafflesia can measure up to a meter wide in diameter and can be as heavy as 10 kilograms. This deep orange flower is truly a spectacle without a doubt mainly owing to its striking leathery and velvety five petals featuring cream colored wart-like growths. Being a rare species because of its inherent factors and characteristics, ‘Tidak Ada Lagi’ which translates to ‘there aren’t many left’ in English is indeed quite an apt theme for this year’s Rafflesia-inspired Bhu:ssatva collection by Digvijay Singh.
A distinct range of organic fabrics have been used in this collection which comprises mainly of cottons and silks such as modal, matka, kora silk, etc and color palette is restricted to neutrals and pastels in order to make it appear soothing and elegant. Besides the flowy and feminine silhouettes, a distinctive feature of this collection is the use of French knots as surface ornamentation – something that’s again inspired by the texture of Rafflesia.
